Dec. 9,2010 Dear David, Your blog on Doghouse reliving your progress made me think about the first walk you took after the doctors told you there was no treatment. I asked you if you wanted to take a walk with me. You said "No", and spent a lot of your time sleeping. This continued for 3 more days. It must have been a terrible time for you. But it was not time wasted.. On the fifth day, you asked me if I was going to take a walk, you would like to accompany me. I will never forget that walk. You held my elbow for guidance. Tears were rolling down my face ,but I believe my voice was normal. I did not want you to know how upset I was. About a week later, after Trish had given you a mobility lesson, you walked ahead of me with no instructions from me. Again tears rolled down my face ,but this time it was tears of joy. Again I will never forget that day. You have not stopped since then, making progress in all aspects of your life !!! I know this can continue. You have unbelievable resolve not to let your misfortune stop your quest to normalize your life in spite of the difficulties. Mom and I are very proud of you, and I am sure there is a growing list of people who will be inspired by your actions. Love,Dad and for Mom.
